Microsoft is offering its Fall Update (Windows 10 November 2021 Update).
This major update called 21H2 is now available for download.
It’s about a Major version but the new features are minimal.
In this tutorial you will find different methods and tips for upgrade your version of Windows 10.
Before you start, think about save your data ! It is also recommended to do not rush on these updates especially on production positions.
What’s new in Windows 21H2
Few new features for this new version, it is mainly about security updates.
In version 21H2, Microsoft now supports the WPA3 H2E protocol. This protocol reinforces security during connections to WIfi access points. The goal is to prevent hackers from collecting the access point password.
The Linux subsystem (Windows Subsystem for Linux) now allows you to take into account the hardware acceleration of your graphics card “GPU Compute”. The graphics card can thus perform processing within a Linux distribution that runs via WSL.
Windows Hello for Business now has an option to support deployments with authentication without having to enter the password.
The support part evolves according to your version (Family or Professional).
Here are the end of support dates:
- Family, Professional,: June 13, 2023 (i.e. a support of 18 months)
- Business and Education : June 11, 2024 (i.e. a support of 30 months)
- LTSC version : January 12, 2027 (i.e. a support of 60 months)
Download and Install Windows 21H2
There are several techniques for mupdate Windows 10 to version 21H2. The simplest being updating via “Windows Update”
In the settings menu you can access Windows Update by clicking on the “Update and security” menu. If your computer is eligible you can download and install the update.
Windows 21H2 Upgrade Kit
A second solution is to use the “upgrade kit” offered by Microsoft. It allows forcing the update.

ISO Windows 21H2
This technique is a little heavier since it is necessary download the ISO Windows 10 (21H2).
Once downloaded, you have to “mount the Iso” then click on the “setup.exe” file.
Let yourself be guided by the update wizard, it allows you to keep your data.
This method is quite cumbersome and may not be suitable for a quick upgrade!
With the Activation Package
This technique works if you have a recent version of Windows 10 (at least 2004).

Once installed, restart your computer it must be in version 21H2.
Windows 10 and the next updates
Microsoft will change the number of major update. There will now only be one update per year.
Windows 10 will be supported until October 14, 2025.
Those with a compatible computer can also migrate for free to Windows 11
