Videoland and Chromecast: all info + what to do if it doesn’t work

Videoland and Chromecast using it together is a piece of cake. Can’t figure it out? Then you can read this article to find out what to do. Are you running into some problems? That is annoying, but not insurmountable. We also offer some solutions in this piece.

What is Videoland?

Videoland is a video streaming service from the Netherlands and owned by RTL. You will find all kinds of Dutch-language series, documentaries, films, talk shows and reality shows, with of course exclusive content that you will not find anywhere. An asset of many streaming services.

When you purchase a subscription from Videoland, you have to pay attention in advance. There are different subscriptions available: Basic, Plus and Premium. Only the Plus and Premium plans offer Chromecast support. So not basic.

In addition, it is good to know that the various subscriptions have even more differences. The Basic plan, for example, has advertising breaks and lets you watch on one screen at a time. The other plans have no advertising breaks.

The Videoland application is available for Android and iOS. In addition, there is an app available that you install on media players and smart TVs. If you don’t have such a device, a separate Chromecast offers a solution. This makes every screen with an HDMI port smart, as it were.

Videoland and Chromecast: start casting

It is therefore possible to have Videoland and Chromecast work together, provided you have the right subscription. What you then do is cast content. The source device (and smartphone or tablet) then sends an episode or movie to the Chromecast (or TV with Chromecast built-in).

Before we can start with cast, you are supposed to install the Chromecast properly. Are you running into problems? That can happen. Most problems can be solved with a reset. Otherwise click here for problems related to the sound.

In the step-by-step plan below, we start at the beginning and assume that you have not done anything yet. For example, if you have already installed a Chromecast, you can skip the first steps. If you are a total beginner, these steps will help you.

Videoland to Chromecast

Step-by-step plan to stream Videoland to the big screen via Chromecast.

Make sure your Chromecast is installed

First we need the Install Chromecast. Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of your TV and insert the (USB) plug into the wall socket (or a USB port).

Select the correct input source (HDMI) on the TV

Now go to the Chromecast channel and follow the steps on the screen. You need the Google Home app for this, so you have to get it from the download store.

Make sure your smartphone/tablet is connected to the same WiFi network

Make sure you install the Chromecast on the network that your smartphone or tablet also connects to. Only then can both devices find and communicate with each other.

Download/open the Videoland app

Now open the Videoland application on your smartphone or tablet (or download it first, if you haven’t already). The app is available for Android and iOS.

Create an account and/or log in and choose what you want to stream

Log in (or create an account) and choose what you want to see.

Find and tap the Chromecast icon in the app

Now tap on the Chromecast icon that you see at the top of the screen.

Select the correct Chromecast to stream Videoland to

Now you will see a list of available devices. Select the device you want to use here. Then think of the Chromecast you just installed.

Voila: streaming starts

After selecting the Chromecast (or the television with built-in Chromecast), the content will be played automatically and you can control the content with your smartphone.

Videoland and Chromecast: streaming via your browser

It is also possible to let Videoland and Chromecast work together via the browser. Now you have to make sure that the computer you use the browser on also connects to the same network as where you installed the Google Chromecast.

  1. Go to the Videoland website.
  2. Log in or create an account.
  3. Select a user profile.
  4. Find the content you want to watch and press Play.
  5. At the bottom right you will find a Cast button.
  6. Click on that and select the Chromecast from the list.

Any problems and solutions

If you use Videoland and Chromecast, you can run into a number of problems. We have already mentioned some problems, such as problems with the sound. But what if you can’t find the Cast button in the application of the video streaming service?

Sometimes it also fails to stream content at all from the source to the target device (in this case the smartphone/tablet/computer and the Chromecast). You can then restart all devices once. You can read how to disable the Chromecast in this article.

Can’t find the Chromecast in the list of available devices? Then we have made an overview here of available solutions. Maybe your solution is among them.
