Twitch Chromecast streaming: step-by-step plan to cast

What is Twitch?

Watch Twitch via Chromecast

Before we explain how to watch Twitch via Chromecast, it’s good to know what conditions you have to meet.

  • You’ll need a Google Chromecast or a TV or media player with Chromecast built-in (a baked-in version of Chromecast on Android TV devices
  • You must use Twitch on your PC or mobile device; the apps have built-in Chromecast functionality
  • Both the Chromecast (or the TV) and the broadcasting source (your PC or smartphone) must be on the same network

It is therefore good to check whether you have properly installed your Chromecast device – in whatever form. Check the WiFi settings again or reinstall the device if you run into problems. If this is your first Chromecast, you still need to install it.

Have you completed the installation? Great, then we can grab Twitch. You can create a profile on the website and within the app to view the content. This is not mandatory, but gives you access to all functionalities and possibilities on the platform.

Twitch Chroomcast via the app and browser

To view Twitch via Chromecast and the app, follow these steps.

  1. Open the app on your smartphone.
  2. Log in to your account with your personal details.
  3. Click on a video or live stream you want to watch.
  4. At the top right you will now see a number of icons.
  5. Click on the well-known Castioon on the left of that row.
  6. A pop-up will now appear with your available Chromecast devices.
  7. Select the device you want to watch and let the app do the rest.

If the Casticoon does not appear, it is possible that your smartphone or Chromecast is not using or using a different WiFi network.

Twitch Chromecast via PC or laptop

If you want to stream Twitch via your PC to a Chromecast, you follow approximately the same steps.

  1. Go to the website of the live streaming service.
  2. Log in to your account with your personal details.
  3. Click on a video or live stream you want to watch.
  4. In the video player you should see a Castioon at the bottom.
    1. If that is not the case, click on the three dots in the top right corner of the Google Chrome bar and select the option Cast…; you can also right click on the stream and click Cast….
  5. A pop-up will now appear with your available Chromecast devices.
  6. Select the device you want to watch and let the app do the rest.
