There are a number of reasons behind Telegram Connecting problems. But before we move on to any steps, it is always safe to check if Telegram is having issues on its end or not.

1. Check for server problems

It is advised to check Downdetector to see if Telegram is having problems on servers or not. Visit the Downdetector website and search for Telegram. If you notice significant spikes in the last 24 hour chart, sit back, relax and let the company work on the problem on their end.

2. Reboot the router

If your mobile device is connected to Wi-Fi, you can reset the router to fix Wi-Fi related issues. If you are using Telegram on mobile data, make sure you are out of data.

I would also suggest that you restart your phone at once. It can help energize things and reallocate the resources of mobile devices. Too many apps that are open in the background can affect your open apps and their performance. Check if Telegram is online or working now or not.

3. Give the relevant permissions

iOS allows you to disable background sync and mobile data for any specific app. If you are experiencing Telegram Connecting issues on iOS, this is the time to check two options from the Settings app.

7. Telegram update

Telegram frequently updates its app on iOS and Android. Telegram Connecting issues may be caused by an outdated Telegram build on your phone. Go to the App Store or Google Play Store and update the app to the latest version. Users of the Telegram Beta channel on Android and iOS should update the respective versions to the latest versions, which include several bug fixes and performance improvements.

8. Disable VPN

Due to its strong stance on user privacy, Telegram is frequently banned in many countries. Change the location on your VPN or proxy app and check again. If that doesn’t work, disable it and use mobile internet or WiFi. If Telegram is working now, then either the VPN/Proxy plan has expired or there is no bandwidth left.

9. Reinstall the phone

If none of the above steps worked, then you should consider deleting the Telegram app from the device. Reinstall the app again from the App Store or Play Store and sign in with your personal credentials.

Don’t worry though, all your chat and media are securely saved on Telegram’s servers so you never lose any data.
