The most expensive laptop in the world?

When we talk about an expensive computer, we immediately think of Apple’s Macbook Pro. But in the Windows universe, some manufacturers have not been asked to offer configurations to several thousand euros. We will not insult you to publish this article in the “tips” category of the site, which among us can boast of being able to spend more than 5000 € on a laptop and deem that the price is justified.

This is however the case if we look at the price of the parts that make up these very high-end machines, the details of which are given below. Just the graphics card, a NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000, alone costs a trifle of € 2,500 (and not in its mobile version, which is logically more expensive). The processor is not to be forgotten with a listed price of $ 583 for 1000 units purchased.

MSI WS75 Mobile Workstation

The MSI WS75 Mobile Workstation range is, as its name suggests, a nomadic workstation. Not just a laptop to check emails and fill in tables Excel but war machines for professionals who do large-scale calculations, generate 3D rendering and use applications very greedy in graphic resources. ISV certification is supported by Adobe software (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), Autodesk (AutoCAD, Maya, 3DS Max, Revit), Dassault Systèmes (SolidWorks, Catia) …

As an example, here is the configuration of the laptop MSI WS75 10TM-486 Workstation :

And at Apple?

At Apple, the choice of configuration is easier. Understand by this that it is less possible to choose its components and it will be impossible to request an Nvidia Quadro graphics card since the current high-end models are equipped with AMD Radeon Pro.

Let’s start with the 16-inch MacBook Pro. In its high configuration but without options, we find a 9th generation Intel Core i9 8-core processor, 32GB of RAM, the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M video card and a 1TB SSD. There are a few options to switch to 5 143 € tax incl. with 3-year AppleCare + warranty.

But if we want to see the big picture and ask for an 8TB SSD and 64GB of RAM, the bill goes to € 8,133 tax included. A trifle for those who have an iPhone 12 Pro Max at € 1,838 with a 3-year warranty.

You can do whatever you want, Apple will always be more expensive than the competition, even with a slower processor and a graphics card not certified for production applications.
