Can you use Skype on Chromebook? Fortunately, it is, but it is a little more laborious than you might think at first. Fortunately, there are three options for getting Skype on your Chromebook depending on a number of factors. The first is through the browser, the second and third are done by installing an app.

Skype on Chromebook: via your browser

Because Microsoft’s calling service does not have a separate Skype application for the Chrome OS (the Chrome OS is your Chromebook’s operating system), you’ll have to resort to alternative methods. For example, you can use the web version of Skype.

You don’t have to do much for that, luckily. You do need two things: the Google Chrome browser and a Skype account. If you already have those things, we can start. Haven’t created a Skype account yet? Then you can arrange this on the website of the calling application.

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser on your Chromebook.
  2. Go to the Skype website.
  3. Click the big Chat now button on the front page.
  4. Log in with your Skype account (or your Microsoft account in the form of Hotmail, Outlook or Live).

After logging in you can immediately start a new conversation with your contacts. You can also add new contacts and of course make a phone call, with or without images. You get access to almost all the features that you attract in the Windows application of the service.
