Construction, comfort and design

The Jabra Elite 65t debuted in 2018. Since then, Jabra has worked a lot on designing its shoots. The new Elite 75t is not only small and compact, but also more elegant. This compact design makes it easy to wear for extended periods of time. We received the Titanium Black version and the play of both colors on the buds enhanced the overall look by several folds.

My ears could safely be considered medium sized and the Elite 75t was a comfortable fit. They hug your ear canal and stay in place no matter how much you move. In addition, the softness of the material means minimal discomfort and irritation. Note that if your ears tend to sweat, the fluid buildup may cause the buds to loosen and pop out a bit.

Most earbuds provide physical buttons. However, the Jabra Elite 75t opts to use the tried and tested method of using the physical buttons. Fortunately, they are flexible and do not get stuck in your ear canal when pressed. Interestingly, the buttons are customizable, and you can set actions as per your requirements via the companion app.

Another feature worth writing about is first-class noise isolation. Provided you wear an appropriate pair of ear tips, you won’t find unnecessary surround noise creeping in. Say goodbye to the hum of the fan or the annoying sound of your writing. For the record, Jabra ships three sets of heads with buds.

Jabra buds have an IP55 rating (protection against ingress of water and dust). So, yes, you can use it when you are out for a run and workout without worrying about sweat damage.

When it comes to the look of the Galaxy Buds Live, it’s safe to say that it doesn’t look like the Elite 75t. Instead, you’ll find two adorable little beans (they can magically create a sound) staring at you as you open the can. We received the Mystic Gold variant, which is highly reflective.

As mentioned earlier, these buds embrace the headless design and do not have the typical silicone tips or fins. Instead, the earphone points directly into the ear canal when you slide it in.

However, don’t let the unique shape stop you from trying these buds. They are comfortable and give you an open-ear feel. Most importantly, it looks great on the ears, thanks to the metallic look.

It took me a while to get used to the open feel of the Samsung Bud that it brings to the table. I’ve been using Galaxy Buds Plus otherwise, and the absence of a “plugged in” feeling was a welcome bonus.

At the same time, there is a learning curve involved when it comes to getting the right fit. And the metallic exterior does not help in this case. It seems to slip, and the touch-sensitive feature (more on that later) worsens the scenario. In addition, the surface is a fingerprint magnet.

But the good news is that once you get fit, they stay fit, whether you’re walking or doing some light physical activity. Note that I haven’t tried any intense workouts wearing these buds primarily because these buds have an IPX2 rating for water and sweat resistance. As mentioned above, the Galaxy Buds Live does not give you the feeling of being clogged, which makes you a little worried about it falling out.

Like its predecessor, the Samsung Buds also has a touch-sensitive exterior. You can skip a song with the double tap gesture, answer a call, or play/pause the music with a single tap. Interestingly, you can also customize the long press action.

So, is the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live as comfortable as the Jabra Elite 75t? First of all, convenience is very subjective. I found the Elite 75t to be very comfortable, and liked the comfortable reassurance that they wouldn’t fall off.

I can wear it for a long time without any discomfort. On the other hand, the Galaxy Buds Live’s hard exterior pressed against the outside of my ears continuously during two hours of binging on a Netflix show. My ears were hurting at the end.

Charging case and battery life

With Buds Live, the pill-shaped case has disappeared and is now replaced by a square charging case. While the sleek design allows for the right grip, it has the same weak magnets associated with Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Buds Plus. If you accidentally drop it, chances are the buds will scatter on the ground.

Like the Samsung case, the Elite 75t charging case is functional and easy to hold. However, what sets it apart from its competition is its strong magnet.

When it comes to battery life, the Jabra earbuds will save you around 7 hours on a full charge, with the case providing an additional 2.2 cycles.

Overall, you get a battery life of around 28 hours, which lives up to expectations. And did we tell you that the box also features fast shipping? Just 15 minutes on the wire will give you an hour’s runtime.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Buds Live advertises six hours of battery life with ANC and eight hours without ANC. The case provides an additional 2.5 charge cycles, giving you a cumulative battery life of about 28 hours (22 hours with ANC).

Honestly, the battery reliability of both headphones is impressive. What makes Galaxy Buds Live one step ahead is the support for wireless charging.

If you have a Samsung phone with PowerShare or a wireless charging pad, all you have to do is put the case on top of it, and you’ll be sorted.

vocal performance

To be perfectly honest, audio extensions are booted up if they fail to perform in the audio department. Fortunately, the Elite 75t and Galaxy Buds Live do not disappoint in this category.

Let’s start with the older Elite 75t. It provides a deep and energetic sound for beginners, which in turn is suitable for you when doing intense exercises or even for casual listening. The overall sound is clear, crisp and pleasing to the ears even when you have it for extended periods.

And impressive noise isolation solves the deal. As mentioned earlier, you can say goodbye to nearby distractions and noise. Do note that it is not active noise cancellation and just depends on the fit of your buds.

At the same time, if you want to stay aware of your surroundings, you can toggle the transparency of the audio via the app or a single click of buttons.

When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, first let me talk about the elephant in the room – active noise cancellation. So, how good is that?

If we talk about the hardware, the Samsung buds have the same dual noise-canceling microphone as the Apple AirPods Pro. However, when it comes to implementation, you will not get the same result. The open design does not give a complete seal to your ears. This affects the ANC. In this case, the ANC is designed to nullify the lower frequencies and well, it performs well.

Apart from that, Buds Live is a step above Buds Plus and delivers excellent sound. The sound stage is spacious, and you’ll be able to feel the bass beat, thanks to the bass channel built right inside. Additionally, the companion app lets you choose from a range of presets. Unlike the 75t, you cannot customize the equalizer as per your choice.

Buds on top

So, do the Galaxy Buds’ uniquely shaped headphones live up to the bar? Well, for starters, they have a lot of good stuff. The sound has improved from before. Wide, ample sound delivery is a step further, and the bass heads will love the active thumb of the bass.

However, the rough exterior and lack of silicone tips can be either a success or a mistake, especially when people have different ear sizes while I can wear them (with slight soreness) for over 1.5-2 hours, my husband couldn’t wear them due to the pain and soreness.

The ANC feature is a plus, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired if you’re looking for a complete seal like the one on the Sony WF-SP800N.

The Elite 75t, on the other hand, is noise-isolated, and features like HearThrough and Soundscapes add to the experience. Above all, the Elite 75T delivers more dynamic sound, despite the presence of smaller 6mm tweeters. Plus, the IP55 certification seals the deal.
