Roh Tae-moon, president of Samsung’s mobile division, told media in New York after the Galaxy Unpacked event that Samsung wanted to continue the momentum of the upcoming foldable smartphone. Last year, it had sold close to 10 million units. This year, it aims to sell more than 10 million units for the first time, led by the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, two of the latest foldable smartphones that have just been launched.
While the global smartphone market is in a slowdown. But folding smartphones reversed the course, growing 2.7 times from 2020 to 2021, according to consistent reports from both the IDC and DSCC. Equipment in this group will still go a long way. until reaching 27.6 million units sold by 2025
Roh also said folding smartphones are a form factor that will become the new standard in the near future, and that by 2025, sales of “more than half” of flagship phones will be sold by Roh. Samsung as well
