How to update Windows (Windows Update)

You want to take care of your computer and its good health requires regular installation of system updates. Windows, like other computer and smartphone operating systems, frequently receives new updates, which should be installed to benefit from the latest fixes.

4. Check the status of system updates:

If the last check is too old, you can run the operation manually by clicking on ” Check for updates And install them.

5. You can also check when and what updates were last installed.

Windows Update on Windows 8 and 8.1

1. Go to the Windows 8 / 8.1 home screen and click on the magnifying glass at the top right. TypeWindows Updateto open the Windows Update program.

2. Check that no important update is pending. If so, install what is offered. Optional updates are not vital for system protection, they don’t have to be installed.

Note: you can also go through the charms bar (right sidebar), Settings, Modify PC settings. Update and recovery menu then Windows Update.

Or by right-clicking on the Start menu (Windows 8.1 only), System. At the bottom left, click Windows Update to get to the old style system update screen.

2. If the abacus icon is green, then all is well. Important updates are already installed, optional ones are not required (hence their name). If important updates are pending, request installation.

Pay attention to the “Last update check”: if this date is too old, start a manual search for new patches.
