Night Shift (inspired by F.lux) is a Mac option that gradually changes the screen color from blue to orange at sunset.
Studies have revealed that exposure to bright blue light in the evening can affect the circadian rhythm and make it difficult to go to sleep. Night Shift uses your computer’s clock and geolocation to determine when the sun will set where you are. Then it automatically changes the colors of your screen to the warmest of the spectrum. And in the morning it works to return the screen to normal settings.
While it’s a thoughtful option, it doesn’t offer as much customization as F.lux. For example, if you’re working on graphic projects or editing videos at night, the Night Shift filters may affect your color perception poorly. To solve this problem, we will be using a better app to customize Night Shift on macOS.
Before we start
To enable Night Shift filters on your Mac, go to
قائمة Apple -> "تفضيلات النظام"-> "شاشات العرض" -> Night Shift -> الجدولة , to create a custom Night Shift schedule or run Night Shift automatically from sunset until sunrise. You can also toggle Night Shift on and off from the Notification Center. To open the Notification Center, tap
in the upper-right corner of your screen, or swipe two fingers from the right side of the touchpad to the left. Then scroll up to bring up the Night Shift settings.
While using this method, you will always have to navigate the Settings app to access Night Shift to change details or disable it. This makes this option inconvenient and there are no good controls. For example, disable Night Shift for an hour or disable it for certain apps. This is where third-party apps like Shifty come in.
Customizing Night Shift on macOS
