How to choose the right printer?

Whether for professional or personal use, the printer has become over the years one of the most used peripherals. There are now multiple printer models designed according to specific needs and uses. Considering this variety of possibilities, it is not always easy to choose the right printer. I give you here some advice to help you make a choice according to your needs and possibilities.

Choose your printer according to its technology

There are multiple models of printers including inkjet printers. These are rather widespread models when it comes to printers dedicated to the general public. They use ink cartridges and have the advantage of being very affordable in terms of price. So, you can find a cheap inkjet printer at inmac-wstore which will guarantee you very good performance. Multifunctional, they print in black and white as well as in color.

More expensive, laser printers use toners. Despite their price, they are more profitable over time, in addition to having better printing speed and a large capacity tray. Silent, they are characterized by their resistance which makes them peripherals suitable for intensive use. Less widespread, thermal sublimation printers are more dedicated to photography.

Focus on printing speed

When choosing a printer, moreover for professional and intensive use, the printing speed is a decisive criterion. It is expressed in pages per minute and depends on the type of printer. In draft quality, for example, an entry-level printer can provide you with reasonable printing speed. However, if you need a printer that can print several pages per minute (at least 20), go for a multifunction model.

Knowing how to choose your printer

Consider print resolution

Like speed, print resolution is also an important factor. If we tend to think that the higher the resolution of the device, the better the quality of the print, it is advisable to qualify. A laser printer can indeed print with better quality than a jet printer with the same print resolution. To print text documents, the laser printer is more suitable. For all kinds of documents, on the other hand, an inkjet model is preferred. In all cases, the print resolution should be at least 5,500 dpi.

Take into account the input capacity and the duplex function

The criterion of input capacity is directly related to your printing needs. The larger they are, the more reason you have to bet on a large sheet input capacity. For all needs, double-sided printing remains an undeniable advantage and contributes to a comfortable use of your device. Plus, it saves you paper. Apart from these criteria, other small modalities come into play and can tip the scales one way or the other. These include, among others:

  • From the integrated memory card reader,
  • Printing on CD or DVD,
  • From the touch screen.
