Convert MBR hard drive to GPT

Newer computers with Bios UEFI may require the use of a hard disk drive (HDD) or a GPT format SSD drive. Microsoft says ” Master Boot Record (MBR) disks use the standard BIOS partition table. GUID Partition Table (GPT) disks use the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). MBR disks do not support more than four partitions per disk. The MBR partition method is not recommended for disks larger than two terabytes (TB). »For disks of 3, 4TB or more, the GPT partition type is therefore essential but this can also be the case for motherboards, computers (laptops and fixed) equipped with a very recent BIOS in UEFI. All manufacturers are concerned: Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Toshiba, Asus

This tutorial explains how to make a converting disk to GPT format. This procedure works with an internal or external disk connected via USB. Traditional hard drive (HDD) and SSD drive are compatible. USB sticks can also be converted to GPT. It is possible to carry out this operation with Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and even Vista or XP. Windows Server versions can also convert a disk to GPT but we prefer to use a workstation rather than a production server. The action of converting MBR to GPT is very fast, it only takes a few minutes to complete this procedure.

Note: this operation will erase all data and partitions on the hard drive which will be converted to GPT. It is therefore essential to back up the files before following this tutorial.
