Sony has started publishing basic details about Android 12 on its web page. Ready to release the firmware for the Xperia 1 III and 5 III to update via OTA soon, attached to the December security patch that was previously delayed due to a bug that needs to be fixed. As for the new features, many things have been added, such as long screenshots. One-handed use with a pull-down screen Camera and microphone status icons, etc.
Sony ROMs haven’t been tweaked since AOSP. So the look and feel and features are almost identical to the Google Pixel. In addition to the notable features mentioned above, the source code in the Material Components Library also points out. The Xperia line of mobile phones also has support for the dynamic color theme system featured in Android 12.
With the Xperia 1 III and 5 III being the flagship phones in Sony’s latest mainstream lineup, it’s no surprise that they’ve been upgraded before their other siblings, who will later be released for the Xperia PRO- I, Xperia Pro, Xperia 10 III, in sequence.
